AI Citation Trends
Tocho's running ledger of how ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity cite the open web. Numbers below come from real citation observations, refreshed continuously. No cherry-picking, no synthetic benchmarks.
Agent-readable JSON at /api/trends. Methodology at /methodology. Per-dimension proof at /proof.
Headline numbers
Per-model citation activity (last window)
How many of the URLs we checked actually got cited in the model's responses. Models we haven't probed yet are absent — we add coverage as queries land in each model's index.
| Model | Checked | Cited | Citation rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gemini | 167 | 61 | 36.5% |
Which signals correlate with citations
Point-biserial correlation between each tScore dimension and the binary "got cited" outcome, computed across the last window. Positive numbers mean higher dimension scores tend to come with citations; near-zero means weak signal in this slice; negative means the dimension may be a poor predictor for this period (or, more often, that the sample is too small to detect a real effect).
| Dimension | Correlation | Cited mean | Not-cited mean | n |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Authority | -0.344 | 70 | 81 | 167 |
| Technical | -0.323 | 89 | 96 | 167 |
| Information Density | -0.321 | 85 | 91 | 167 |
| Extractability | -0.284 | 78 | 82 | 167 |
| Cognitive Load | -0.188 | 84 | 86 | 167 |
| Structure | -0.174 | 80 | 81 | 167 |
| Freshness | 0.000 | 100 | 100 | 167 |
Honest disclosure: weak in-window correlations are common at small sample sizes. The deeper /proof page aggregates over longer windows and includes more stable per-platform breakdowns.
Quarterly snapshots
We publish frozen quarterly snapshots of the full corpus when the observation window is long enough to support stable claims. Snapshots are versioned, downloadable as JSON, and citable forever.
First quarterly snapshot lands when the corpus crosses the threshold needed for stable per-dimension claims. Until then, this section stays empty rather than shipping numbers that might not replicate.
